"The Child" was written when I was in my early 40's, my children were not children anymore and I was reflecting on my own upbringing and the joy that can be had when the world around us is experienced with innocence. This is what a wise man was referring to when he said "suffer the little children to come onto me and forbid them not, for such is the kingdom of heaven."
As adults, this innocence and joy can be experienced when we are in the moment. When past and future are not things that distract us from the beauty of the present. This sacred space comes through when we can forgive and find a love within us that helps us accept and be grateful for what is, what was, and what can be.

It is interesting to me how songs that come through are sometimes prophetic. I wrote this over 20 years ago, and the last verse refers to playing with my old friends. Here I am today, playing music with my old friends and experiencing so much joy!
