Sitting in the car dealership getting our car it’s 90,000 mile service. Got the car about the time Vince and I started playing again. Hard to believe we’ve been doing that for about 4 years. It has been a gift of JOY playing with Vince and Wayne again, so very grateful. But it has been a gift that we’ve worked for. We are such different people than we were 45 years ago, and yet, we are so the same. We continue to work toward Spreading Love and Life and Healing among each other, being better friends to each other, and believing that if we can do that with each other we have a better chance of offering that to folks that come hear us play. May it be so!
February was a big month for us. We got together in Colorado to begin the process of recording. It is a process for us. We have all recorded before, Vince and Wayne both recorded in Nashville, and I have recorded in a few small studios. We’ve all we hired musicians to enhance the music we were making. For this project, we have chosen to play and sing and record everything ourselves. There is a steep learning curve with the technology, but it is so very much fun doing it together. Sometimes I sound like a dying calf in a hailstorm! So, I try again. Sometimes there is magic, and the moment is so deep it brings tears. Can’t wait to share it with all of you. Watch our Website and Facebook for information on how this project of love is going and for release information.
The second part of our time in Colorado was given to the Annual Music Retreat I call Music Among Friends. There are all levels of expertise, from friends who know 3 chords, to friends who play many instruments. Some of us share our music, some bring others music. Young and old come, according to the young, I’m in the old category. Hope has joined us the past number of years, the only woman. More women will come next year. Music gives us an excuse to gather, Friendship is the reason we come. The time is rich and deep, perhaps you’ve seen some of it on Facebook (thanks for the pictures and videos Cindy), if not take a look.
Friendship is often the primary reason Vince and Wayne and I play. In a little over a week, we travel to Virginia to play for an event remembering and honoring the life of Eugene Friesen. He was our friend, a friend of our music, and we are honored to be part of a time of remembrance for him. Rest in Peace Brother.
